Boarding

Boarding Services

Boyer Capstone offers pet boarding services for our current clients with pets that are up to date on vaccinations. Our boarding facility is safe and clean, but not large—which means that your pets will get lots of attention, but also that reservations often need to be made well in advance, especially during holidays.

Pet Boarding Details

  • Check-In and Check-Out: Boarding pets must be checked in and out during our regular business hours, Monday through Friday. Sorry, we do not offer weekend check-ins or check-outs!
  • Pet Care: We provide everything your pet needs for their staycation! However, if your pet is on a special diet or requires medication, please bring these items with you when you check them in.

Daily Routine

  • Dogs: Dogs are let outside into our fenced backyard three times daily during the week and twice on weekends. They receive food, fresh water, and treats (if provided) during these times. Love is ample and on the house!
  • Cats: Cat cages are refreshed twice daily, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment. Affection is always available—if they’re in the mood. We know how cats are.

Monitoring and Care

Our staff is dedicated to your pets’ happiness and well-being! Our employees are in and out of the boarding area throughout the day. Our trained kennel assistant monitors for any abnormalities in daily routines and will alert a doctor if a pet needs attention during their stay. This provides not only comfort, fun, and safety for them, but peace of mind for you.

Booking Your Pet’s Stay

Please make a reservation in advance to secure a spot for your pet. This is especially important during peak times like holidays!

We look forward to providing a safe, caring, and fun home away from home for your furry friend!

Digital Radiology & Ultrasound

Digital Radiology & Ultrasound

Our pets can’t tell us where it hurts, and they’re often very good at masking signs of pain, injury, or illness. This is why fast, accurate diagnostic tools are essential! Boyer Capstone is proud to offer both high-quality digital pet radiology and ultrasound services in-house.

Digital Pet Radiology

Digital pet radiology (aka X-rays) is faster and safer than traditional film. They offer crisper, more detailed images that are available immediately and can be shared quickly with other facilities if needed. Bonus: there’s no film to process, which also makes digital X-rays more eco-friendly!

X-rays can be instrumental in detecting fractures, foreign bodies, tumors, and the evaluation of the heart and lung fields. It can also be used in the later stages of pregnancy.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound creates real-time, moving images of your pet’s internal organs and structures. It works by broadcasting high-frequency sound waves that reflect off your pet’s internal structures, and a small probe held against the skin collects the returning signals to create an image. It’s commonly used for a more extensive and detailed evaluation of abdominal organs like the stomach, kidneys, liver, spleen, and gallbladder. An ultrasound can be essential in diagnosing intestinal foreign bodies or tumors. An echocardiogram, or ultrasound of the heart, provides precise information about heart valves, blood flow, chamber size, and contractions.

Depending on the circumstances, the best imaging options for your pet could be X-rays, ultrasound, or both. Radiology and ultrasound are often used together to provide the most complete and diagnostic imagery of your pet possible.

In some cases (orthopedic X-rays in particular), sedation may be required for X-rays or ultrasounds to obtain the needed images. If you have any questions about our imaging services, please call us at (405) 794-8504

In-House Laboratory

In-House Laboratory

If you have a pet that’s ill or not acting normally, you want to figure out why as soon as possible—and so do we! Boyer Capstone is proud to have a modern in-house laboratory where we can perform many kinds of testing. This not only saves you money, but it also means that you can get answers in minutes, not days.

Our in-house laboratory testing includes:

  • Chemistry panels and CBCs (complete blood counts)
  • Heartworm testing
  • FeLV/FIV testing
  • Parvo testing
  • Urinalysis
  • Intestinal parasite testing (fecal screens)
  • Cytologies
  • Skin scrapings
  • Glucose monitoring

For more specific or specific or specialized testing, we partner with a high-quality outside laboratory.

Diagnostics: Not Just for Sick Pets!

It’s important to note that diagnostics are important not only for sick pets but also as an essential part of routine pet care.

Routine blood work is often recommended annually as part of your pet’s wellness care, especially for senior pets. It can uncover early or hidden diseases in a seemingly healthy patient. Addressing a problem before it becomes clinically significant is not only easier on the pet, but it is also less expensive and provides the best outcome. Baseline bloodwork done when your pet is healthy is also an essential part of their medical history, as it allows us to have reference points to compare with any abnormalities that should come up in the future.

Pre-anesthetic blood work is an essential part of any surgical procedure and is necessary for detecting problems in organs that process anesthetic medications, like the liver and kidneys. If we see abnormal results, we can make changes to the types of medications used, drug dosages, and intravenous fluid amounts to ensure maximum safety. In some cases, pre-anesthetic bloodwork can alert us to patients who cannot be safely anesthetized and may need treatment for an issue before undergoing undergo.

If you have any questions about our laboratory services, don’t hesitate to call us at (405) 794-8504 today.

Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy has long been used in human medicine, and Boyer Capstone is pleased to offer safe and highly beneficial pet laser therapy services to our patients!

This painless, drug-free, non-invasive technology treats acute and chronic injuries, accelerates the healing process after surgery, and alleviates joint pain. It works by stimulating cell regeneration, increasing blood flow to the targeted area, and releasing the body’s own pain-relieving endorphins and hormones.

Shine a Light on Healing

Pet laser therapy generally takes between 10 and 30 minutes, with most patients seeing positive effects after 3-5 uses. The treatment continues to relieve pain and fight inflammation for up to 24 hours following the session.

Conditions improved with laser therapy include:

  • Hip dysplasia
  • Post-surgical incisions and soft-tissue trauma
  • Arthritis and degenerative joint disease
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Neuromuscular disease
  • Hot spots and ear infections

Laser therapy can be combined with other types of veterinary care, including pharmaceutical regimens and other treatments. The broad biochemical benefits and lack of adverse side effects have made laser therapy a go-to for both post-operative rehab in veterinary medicine and an excellent choice for pets who can’t take traditional pain medications (such as NSAIDs) due to health concerns.

If you’re wondering if laser therapy could benefit your pet, the answer is likely yes! We’ve had some amazing success stories, and we’re incredibly excited to offer this innovative service to our patients. Contact us at (405) 794-8504 with any questions or to schedule your pet’s consultation today.

Dental Care

Dental Care

Routine dental care for pets is every bit as important as it is for humans, and Boyer Capstone offers top-of-the-line pet dentistry. Periodontal disease is one of the most common health issues in our pets, and studies have shown that by the age of three, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats are showing signs of it. Not only is it unhealthy, but it’s also painful—leading to a decreased quality of life for your pet. We recommend annual oral and dental exams for your pet and routine dental cleanings as indicated.

Dental Health = Whole Body Health

It’s about so much more than just a clean mouth and fresh breath (although that is a nice perk). Without routine dental care, periodontal disease becomes advanced. This not only leads to pain and tooth loss, but it also allows harmful bacteria to spread throughout your pet’s system, causing damage to the kidneys, liver, and heart.

We offer complete dental care services for pets, including:

  • Dental exams
  • Cleaning & polishing
  • Extractions

Signs that your pet might be having a dental issue include:

  • Bad breath
  • Drooling
  • Difficulty eating or chewing oddly
  • Reduced appetite
  • Pawing or rubbing at the mouth
  • Loose, broken, or bleeding teeth
  • Behavioral changes

If you notice any of these in your pet, schedule an exam with your veterinarian right away.

Prevention Means Protection

Dental disease is a preventable issue, and we strive to provide you with the at-home tools and in-clinic treatment to maintain good oral health for the life of your pet! Besides regular professional dental care, one of the best things that pet owners can do is brush their pet’s teeth at home. If you’re unsure where to start or how to brush your pet’s teeth, our staff is happy to help and can even provide a tooth-brushing demo.

For more information or to schedule your pet’s dental exam, call us at (405) 794-8504 today!

Regenerative Therapy

Regenerative Therapy

At Boyer Capstone, we are dedicated to providing the most innovative care possible for your beloved pets. As part of our commitment to advanced veterinary medicine, we proudly offer pet regenerative medicine services for pets.

What is Regenerative Therapy?

Regenerative therapy in veterinary medicine involves the therapeutic use of your pet’s own tissue to promote healing and reduce inflammation. These treatments can be particularly beneficial for pets suffering from arthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, and other degenerative conditions. The goal is to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal itself, improving your pet’s quality of life and mobility.

Stem Cell Therapy

This minimally invasive procedure involves extracting a small amount of fat, processing it to isolate the stem cells, and injecting these potent cells into the affected area. Stem cells are unique because they have the potential to develop into different types of cells and tissues. Stem cells are harvested from your pet’s own fat tissue, and collection of this tissue can even be done at the same time as a routine surgery and then banked for future use. Once injected, stem cells reduce inflammation, promote tissue regeneration, and accelerate the healing process. Stem cell therapy can be particularly effective for conditions such as osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, and ligament injuries.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

PRP therapy involves using your pet’s own blood to promote healing. A small amount of blood is drawn and processed to concentrate the platelets, which are rich in growth factors that aid in tissue repair. The concentrated PRP is then injected into the injured area, stimulating the healing process, reducing inflammation, and enhancing tissue regeneration. PRP therapy is especially useful for tendon and ligament injuries, joint inflammation, and even certain skin conditions.

Benefits of Pet Regenerative Medicine

Pet regenerative medicine offers several benefits:

  • Minimally Invasive: Stem cell and PRP therapies involve minimally invasive procedures with little to no downtime.
  • Reducing Pain and Inflammation: These therapies help to reduce pain and inflammation, providing relief for pets suffering from chronic conditions.
  • Enhancing Healing: Regenerative therapy can speed up recovery and improve overall outcomes by promoting the body’s natural healing processes.

If you think your pet could benefit from regenerative therapy, contact us today at (405) 794-8504 to schedule a consultation!

  • Change in body temperature
  • Difficulty standing
  • Apparent paralysis
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Seizures
  • Excessive bleeding

Safety Tips

  • Pets who are severely ill or injured may try to bite, claw, or act aggressively toward those trying to help them. Approach any injured or sick pet slowly and calmly. Say the pet’s name and see how they react. Call for help if the pet responds aggressively.
  • For a large dog who cannot move, fashion a makeshift stretcher with a blanket or tarp and ensure the neck is supported.
  • For cats, slowly place a blanket or towel over their heads to prevent biting. Then, slowly lift the animal into an open-topped carrier or box.
  • If possible, elevate and apply pressure to any bleeding wound.
